Since ancient times, the Indonesian archipelago has been recognized as a significant source of global spices. Its unique archipelagic environmental setting, which stretches across the equator and is linked with the ring of fire’s volcanic mountains, are the source of Indonesia’s enormous spice diversity and high-quality flavors. The Indonesian archipelago has employed over a hundred different spices due to its indigenous understanding of edible foods and its in-depth culinary traditions among over 700 ethnic groups. PT JSB created the JIVA spice collection to honor and promote Indonesia’s traditional spices, particularly the rare and forgotten varieties. We work directly with local farmers and indigenous people to discover the finest Indonesian spices and bring them to the market.
